15000 ELF attended Super Junior's first Malaysia concert

Super Junior Wows Malaysian Fans
KUALA LUMPUR: South Korean boyband Super Junior wowed 15,000 fans in an electrifying performance at their sell-out concert at Bukit Jalil Putra Stadium.

Popular group: The boyband performing at the Bukit Jalil Putra Stadium
The boys belted out 35 songs in Korean, Mandarin and English during the three-hour-long concert on Saturday night, delighting fans with hits such as Who Am I, Super Girl, Shining Star, Sorry Sorry, Wonder Boy and Marry U.

Enthusiastic “ELFs” (short for Ever Lasting Friends used to refer to Super Junior fans) waved glowsticks in pearl sapphire blue – the boybands’ official colour – and screamed wildly throughout the show.

Some even camped out at the concert venue the previous night while others arrived hours before showtime.

All the concert props were flown in from South Korea and the special stage which cost the organisers some RM6mil to build offered the boyband more opportunities to interact with their fans.

Local Mandopop duo Thomas Jack and teen singer Iqwal served as the opening acts at the concert.

The concert marks Super Juniors third official visit to Malaysia.

They featured as guest performers at their label-mate TVXQs 1st Asia Tour in 2007 and were last here to attend the MTV Asia Awards 2008 as well as collect their award as Favourite Artiste (Korea).

The boyband also attended a brief press conference before the concert. Present were the 10 members of the group: Leeteuk, Heechul, Yesung, Shindong, Sungmin, Eunhyuk, Donghae, Siwon, Ryeowook and Kyuhyun.

Debuting in 2005, Super Junior comprises 13 members, which makes them the biggest boyband in the world.

The boys have 19 releases to their name including studio and live albums as well as singles, compilations, soundtrack and various other collaborations.

The concert was organised by Redstar Presents and the event managed by Marctensia with SMEntertainment and Dream Maker as concert supervisors.

(Super Junior 2010 Super Show 2 Asia Tour Malaysia stop) was held at Putra Indoor Stadium Bukit Jalil yesterday with 15,000 people attended which fills up the whole stadium and high through the roof!

This trip, 10 of 13 Super Junior attended with Kibum, Hankyung and Kangin missing the concert similar to previous Shanghai stop but this did not ruin the performance of concert at all. All 10 member of SJ is singing and dancing on stage energetically as if they have not grown up. Leeteuk and Eunhyuk kisses each other on the lips, Heechul raised Shindong’s hand pretending to smell at his armpit, even dressing up as girls and twisting their butt towards (Chu). In the end, SJ and ELF ended up playing with water!

Leeteuk, Heechul, Shindong, Sungmin, Donghae, Kyuhyun, Yesung, Eunhyuk, Siwon and Ryeowook’s performance on stage was eye catching. When 10 of them appear, everyone will be mesmerized and ended up not knowing who they should place their eyesight on. Siwon was being playful by pulling the tip of his shirt showing the green colour band of his boxers. When performing “sorry, sorry” he even put off his buttons to show his chocolate abs. Donghae’s solo dance has the shadows of Michael Jackson. Kyuhyun sang “Please forgive me” which shows off his singing skill. While singing “Puff the magic dragon”, Shindong act as a baby while other members got into bug costumes such as dragon fly, beetle, spider and many others.

During the performance of , all 10 SJ members appeared at different positions on stage. Leader Leeteuk was positioned at the middle of stage. When they sang until the end, he even shed tears. The reason behind him shedding tears was it because he was too touched and happy to see fans coming all the way from China, Singapore, Thailand and Malaysia?

Not to be forgotten, ELFs are very protective over SJ. When Leeteuk and Ryeowook was dancing with female dancers be it holding hands, touching their face or dancing together, all these intimate actions brought screams from ELF as if they are not agreeing towards those female dancers touching their idols. Other than that, SJ have also brought water guns to play with ELFs. Any ELFs in their view shall be sprayed with water. However, some ELF have known about this before hand not only brought blue towels to dry up but brought their own guns as well. They ended spraying each other with SJ members.

Towards the end of the concert, ELF throw all gifts such as toys, soft toys which was prepared earlier to the stage. Shindong even wore the life buoy causing much laughter. The whole concert was more like a party. The interaction between SJ and ELF was warm and touching. In SJ’s first Malaysia concert, sub-group’s member Henry and Zhoumi attended and performed too.

SJ starts performing about 8pm and ended at 11pm after singing 35 songs. Leader Leeteuk brought other 9 members together with Henry and Zhoumi and bowed 90 degrees to fans of 15,000 as token of appreciation and ended the 3 hours long concert.
Recap of concert: A concert worth 100%

Writers likes the concert presented by Super Junior in Malaysia this time. Rather than the design of the stage, all spectators are able to see all members clearly with zero distance! The stage design, sound system, lighting, effects and skills are all first class. This also shows the sincerity of SJ towards ELF. On top of that, the design of entrance gave me a shock as well. When concert was starting, Kyuhyun was escorted by security guards and appeared at the exit, leaving only a distance of 5 steps between writer and him! Seeing Kyuhyun at such short distance makes me feel as if it is a little unbelievable.

I really like the interactions between SJ and ELF. While singing “Sorry, sorry”, honestly speaking I felt like standing up and dance together with the fans!

Super Junior’s Super Show 2 press conference in Malaysia

South Korea’s Super Junior – the largest boyband in the world – appeared to the Malaysian press briefly for a "chat session" at 4pm on March 20.

In Malaysia: Finally, Super Junior comes to Malaysia for a concert

The 10 members who were present (yes, 3 boys did not come to Malaysia for the show for various reasons) greeted the press at the VIP Lounge, Putra Indoor Stadium at Bukit Jalil.

Emceed by Liew Li Li, 8TV’s Mandarin News presenter, the session was conducted at lightning speed. The interpreter was OK, but a little too fast at times.

The press were not invited to ask questions as MC Liew was already given a set of questions by the organizers, Marctensia.

The boys trooped into the VIP Lounge at about 4:35pm, took a bunch of publicity shots, “talked” to the press for about 7 minutes, then took some more pictures with the organizers and sponsors. They were then quickly ushered out.

I Twittered bits and pieces of what the boys said right after the PC, but we know you fans, you always want more!

So here’s what Super Junior had to say about their very first concert in Malaysia. I have rephrased some of the questions…because I can :-P.

(Hit the "Keep reading" link below)

How do you feel about your first concert in Malaysia?

Eeteuk: This is our third visit to Malaysia. Our first visit was when we filmed the Dancing Out music video, we came here for the second time for the MTV Asia Awards (2008) and this is the third time – here for the Super Junior Super Show 2.

This time, we see many more supporters in Malaysia and we are very excited for that. It’s just a few hours away before the show. It will be a really fun concert today so everyone should enjoy it.

Being different: Heechul (seated, 2nd from left) does the "peace" sign while the others do
their SuJu signature move

What can fans expect from the Super Show 2?

Eeteuk: It will feel like a party and Super Junior will even dress up as girls. I highly recommend the show and do enjoy it as it is going to be a lot of fun.

This is not your first time in Malaysia. What impresses you most about our country?

Eunhyuk: We filmed the Dancing Out MV in Malaysia, although it was very hot, the people are very sincere and it is a beautiful country.

Eeteuk: And at the hotel we are staying at the moment (Grand Millennium, Kuala Lumpur), there is a picture of us taken during our first visit to Malaysia. That’s awesome. The photograph also shows the majestic Twin Towers of Malaysia. Your country has beautiful palaces too. I really wish I can come back to Malaysia and I am really happy to be here today.

Curious: Shindong (back row, 1st from left) and Siwon (front row, 3rd from left) wonder who's behind the camera.

Do you have any message for the fans?

Eeteuk: I heard that for the first time in Malaysia, fans camped overnight at the concert venue. It (the concert) will be great as we can get closer to the fans…sharing the same air and just having a good time together.

And it’s really good that the tickets have already sold out. How do you feel about that?

Eeteuk: We are very honoured and we have waited a long time to be here. We now have the opportunity to be close to the fans. This is the first time, of all our visits to Malaysia, where we can really connect with our fans.

Cute: Eeteuk (front row, 4th from left) talks excitedly about being close to fans
Super Junior not only performs as a group, but you also have solo activities. Would you like to give us an update on your individual projects?

Eeteuk: Our brother Siwon will play the main role in the new Korean drama Oh! My Lady.

Siwon: (in English) Hope you guys will like the drama. Thank you.

What is Super Junior working on right now apart from the Super Show 2?
