Huge crowd at iPhone 4S launch
KUALA LUMPUR: Many braved traffic yesterday to witness the launch of the eagerly anticipated iPhone 4S by Maxis Bhd, Malaysia’s integrated communications provider.
At the stroke of midnight, Maxis unveiled the device to customers at a launch event at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.
Concurrently, Maxis introduced the iPhone 4S in Johor Baru, Penang, Kuantan, Kota Kinabalu and Kuching.
The smartphone will be available starting today at all Maxis Centres and Maxis Exclusive Partners nationwide.
Maxis chief executive officer Sandip Das said: “Having an iPhone is one thing, but to experience it on Maxis is something else.
“We are delighted to bring the latest model of the iPhone, the iPhone 4S, to our customers, having brought the first iPhone to Malaysia in 2009.”

As a result, Maxis has more than 7.5 million active mobile users.
For the new iPhone 4S, Maxis is offering four iValue plans for customers.

Loyal Maxis customers, who have been part of its iPhone community since Maxis launched iPhones 3G, 3GS and 4, will be the first out of the many iPhone enthusiasts who have registered their interest to get the iPhone 4S from Maxis and to enjoy the new plans automatically.
Among the new enhancements to its iValue plans are increased data quota and free WiFi connection of 4GB per month in all Maxis hot spots.
With the added free WiFi connection, Maxis now offers customers the highest mobile data allocation.
To check out the nearest WiFi hot spot, customers can download the Maxis WiFi application from the App store for free.
